Haynes Motor Museum

Haynes International Motor Museum is home to the UK’s largest Collection of cars and motorbikes. Situated in Sparkford, close to the A303, the Museum takes you on a journey through time following one of the most significant and successful inventions, the motorcar.

The exhibitions include some of the very first cars in The Dawn of Motoring, nostalgic favourites in Memory Lane, a sea of red sports cars in the famous Red Room and the exclusive new Williams F1 exhibition ‘The Drivers and The Driven.’

Within the museum, is Café 750, which serving delicious food, teas, and coffees. This is a perfect space to relax and unwind after an exhilarating tour of the car exhibitions.

Last year, Café 750 had to be adapted to provide food with increased safety and social distancing measures due to Covid-19.

The existing café furniture was predominantly made up from wooden tables, benches and chairs and was not suitable for repeat intensive cleaning programs. It was therefore necessary to introduce ‘easy clean’ table bases and tabletops which needed to be sanitized after each sitting.

Our Next Day Premium Laminated 25mm thick tabletops were supplied because the laminate is easy to clean, scratch and heat resistant, suitable for busy contract environments. Additionally, the tabletops have a 2mm impact resistant edging strip which protects them from any knocks or bumps. The tops are available in a choice of colours including Wenge, Ash, White, Walnut, and in this instance, Black was chosen to tone in with the Haynes iconic branding.

Table bases were also required and because speed was of the essence, we supplied the Sykes Next Day Black bases which are perfect to accommodate and compliment the Next Day Premium Laminated tabletops. In addition, the table bases are suitable for use with different top shape and sizes, which were required within the Café.

The larger tables, to seat 4 people, featured the Sykes rectangular base, which is a single column on an extra wide flat foot plate. This dining table base can accept top sizes up to 1200mm x 800mm, slightly larger than the official F1 chequered racing flag!

Many smaller sized circular and square tabletops were specified, suitable for two people, and are strategically placed around the perimeter of the café, adhering to social distancing and customer safety.

Haynes Motor Museum and Café 750 responded and adapted very quickly to the proposed government guidelines and as result have been awarded with the ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry charter mark. This means they have all the procedures in place to ensure a safe an enjoyable visit for all.

It was a pleasure to work with Haynes Motor Museum on their Café 750 project and we are proud to see our café product line within the iconic museum.

We hope to visit soon!
